Denver International Airport (DEN) is the most operationally flexible and technically capable gateway serving Aspen-bound travelers. With runway lengths up to approximately 4,877 meters, DEN supports all aircraft categories including ultra-long-range intercontinental jets such as the Gulfstream G700 and Global 8000.
The airport operates at an elevation of approximately 5,434 feet (1,655 meters), significantly lower than ASE and EGE, providing more favorable performance margins for heavy and ultra-long-range departures. DEN offers 24-hour customs and immigration services, multiple full-service FBO operators, extensive de-icing infrastructure and large ramp capacity suitable for VIP airliner and head-of-state operations.
Although located approximately 4 hours by ground transfer from Aspen, helicopter transfers and regional connecting flights are frequently used for time-sensitive passengers. DEN is commonly selected for long-haul international arrivals, aircraft repositioning or during weather-related restrictions at mountain airports.
